Obituary: Ellen L. Weinhold

Ellen L. Weinhold, 88, of Crosstown died Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Independence Care Center in Perryville.
She was born Feb. 10, 1932 in Cape Girardeau County to Edwin and Laura (Aufdenberg) Fluegge.
She and Herbert Weinhold were married Aug. 9, 1953. He preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 2015.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown, the Ladies Aid and previously served as church organist and Sunday school teacher. Ellen was a school teacher in California, Mo, and locally at Tilsit and Uniontown. She taught public school at Menfro, McBride, and Perryville Elementary School. She also continued teaching through Blue Hills Federal Reading Program at various parochial schools in the area. She was a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher Sorority.
Survivors include one daughter, Carole (James) Brown of Perryville; one son, Scott (Gena) Weinhold of Crosstown; one sister, Alice (Glen) Birk of Jackson; one brother, Glenn Fluegge of Ste. Genevieve; sister-in-law, Betty Fluegge of Jackson, four grandchildren, Michael (Mae Grace) Brown of Eureka, Jordan (Lauren) Brown of Sunnyvale, Calif., Ashley and David Weinhold of Crosstown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother: Wilman Fluegge; sister-in-law: Nancy Fluegge.
Visitation was on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown with Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating.
Burial was in the Church Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Saxony Lutheran High School or Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown.
